Metra train delayed after pedestrian struck at Berwyn stop​on January 30, 2025 at 5:35 pm

A BNSF Metra train was delayed about to 40 minutes today due to a fatal accident with a pedestrian, according to Metra.

A BNSF line train was traveling eastbound towards Chicago Union Station when it hit a pedestrian at around 10:00 a.m. The pedestrian was transported to a hospital following the accident and was declared deceased at the hospital.

Another BNSF train, scheduled to arrive Aurora at 11:51 a.m., will express from LaGrange Road to Main Street/Downers Grove, according to a Metra announcement.

It is the second time this week that a Metra train has hit a pedestrian. On Monday evening, a Milwaukee District West line train hit a pedestrian near Roselle.
