DALLAS — A Mexican national was arrested by Dallas ICE agents for his alleged involvement in a fatal 2014 vehicle accident, according to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
ICE officials said in a news release that 46-year-old Ramiro Guevara was in the United States illegally on March 26, 2014, when he was involved in a vehicle accident that claimed the life of a 13-year-old girl. ICE didn’t clarify if Guevara was the driver or what role he played in the accident.
However, at the time of the accident, Guevara was wanted for a violation of driving without a license, according to ICE. He was not charged in the death of the minor, nor did he serve any jail time, ICE said.
Prior to 2025 his arrest, Guevara was also wanted for an “outstanding order of deportation on a violation of alien present in the United States” without being admitted or paroled, according to ICE officials.
Guevara filed a petition for relief from removal on March 10, 2016. An immigration judge denied his petition on July 28, 2017, and he was required to leave the U.S. on August 23, 2017. Guevara was given 30 days to file a removal appeal and failed to do so, according to ICE.
Authorities said Guevara would remain in ICE custody pending removal proceedings.
