There are lots of questions swirling after Saks Global last week reversed its decision to shutter the downtown Dallas Neiman Marcus store and instead keep it open through the holidays.
While we still don’t know all the answers, a few more details have come to light recently on what happened and what could be in store for the future.
Leaders from Saks and the City of Dallas came together during the last week of March to discuss the future and potential reimagining of the store. It appears the meeting resulted in a compromise to keep the store open through the 2025 holiday season — a busy time of year for retailers everywhere.
The meeting came after leaders with the city, including City Manager Kimberly Tolbert, applied pressure on Saks for weeks after the initial February news that the store would close. A coalition of real estate figures and city officials repeatedly implored Saks to sit down for a meeting.
