An 18-year-old high school student was killed in a shooting on Tuesday night, Chicago police said.

Chicago police said an 18-year-old high school student was killed in a shooting in the Morgan Park neighborhood Tuesday night.

CHICAGO (WLS) — An 18-year-old high school student was killed in a shooting in the Morgan Park neighborhood Tuesday night, Chicago police said.

The shooting took place at about 8:11 p.m. in the 1000-block of West 115th Street.

Police said the victim was approached by an unknown suspect on foot who opened fire and shot the victim multiple times.

The victim was able to transport himself to Roseland Hospital , where he later died, police said. He has been identified to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as Treyvon Winfield.

His father Albert Winfield said his son was set to graduate from Morgan Park High School.

“I just want to let people know that my son was a good person, a good child, he was getting ready to graduate from high school, Morgan Park High School, he was a senior,” Winfield said. “All the senseless killing has to stop.”

It is not known what led up to the shooting.

Police said the shooter took off and no one is in custody.
