The animal attack took place inside a home in the Entwhistle area around 7:30 a.m., when ambulance crews and police officers from Evansburg were called to the scene, RCMP said in a Monday news release.
The infant, who suffered life-threatening bite injuries, was flown to the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton by STARS air ambulance.

“Despite best efforts from medical professionals, the infant has been declared deceased,” the RCMP release said.
RCMP said the dog has been surrendered, and officers are continuing to investigate.
No other information on the victim was disclosed.
A public information officer for STARS confirmed the service was dispatched to the Entwhistle area early Sunday for a “pediatric patient involved in an animal-related incident.”
Entwhistle is about 100 km west of Edmonton.
