A man and a teenager have been charged after a nine-year-old boy related to them was accidentally shot through the neck and killed at a farm near Goulburn in NSW.

Emergency services were called to a property in Windellama at 11.20am on Sunday following reports of the shooting.

The boy was treated at the scene for serious neck injuries after the firearm was accidentally fired, but he could not be revived by paramedics and died at the scene, police said.

Overnight, police investigating the shooting under Strike Force Dalzeill arrested and charged two of the boy’s relatives, a 14-year-old boy and a 33-year-old man.

The 14-year-old was charged with possessing an unauthorised firearm and granted conditional police bail to appear in a children’s court on May 16.

The 33-year-old was charged with allowing a person to possess a firearm and not keeping a firearm safely. He was granted police bail to appear in Goulburn Local Court on May 14.

Neighbours who heard the gunshot told Seven News that the family, who are originally from Sydney, bought the property as a weekender and had just arrived for the start of the school holidays.
