FORT WORTH, Texas — The brewmaster of Fort Worth’s popular Martin House Brewing Company is in the hospital after a traumatic fall, the business announced Monday.
John “Beef” Laughman, brewmaster at the popular Fort Worth brewery, suffered skull fractures and a serious brain bleed after a fall on Friday, March 28, according to a GoFundMe page set up on his behalf. The page states that Laughman is currently unconscious and on a breathing tube in the Intensive Care Unit but is making progress each day.
“As he continues to fight through this difficult time, John will need ongoing medical care, rehabilitation, and assistance for daily expenses,” the page reads. “We are reaching out for your support to help cover his medical bills and daily needs while he focuses on healing.”
The North Texas community has responded to this call to action, donating more than $28,000 in just two days to assist Laughman, known for creating Martin House’s unconventional brews, including hot dog water, mustard beer and an Elf-themed beer brewed with spaghetti, syrup and M&Ms.
Martin House Brewing Co. shared the GoFundMe on social media while sharing how much Laughman means to them.
“Beef writes our recipes and creates all the beers you love,” the brewery shared. “But that’s secondary to his actual role at Martin House, which is being our best friend, the life of the party, the dude that’s always gonna make you smile, and he is the reason that we look forward to going to work every day.”
