NRL 2025 LIVE updates: Broncos secure confident win against Tigers, Reynolds off injuredon April 5, 2025 at 10:44 am

The Eels and the Dolphins secured their first wins of the season on Saturday, while the Broncos had a comprehensive win against the Tigers.

The Eels and the Dolphins secured their first wins of the season on Saturday, while the Broncos had a comprehensive win against the Tigers.

That’s full-time at Suncorp Stadium, where the Broncos ran away with a convincing enough win against the Tigers.

Not exactly the defensive display from either team that their coaches would have wanted, but after a shaky start from Brisbane, the team managed to pull it together for a big victory.

A dramatic ending with Staford To’A sent to the sin bin with 10 seconds left on the clock, to give Brisbane a 22-point victory.

Full-time: Broncos 46, Tigers 24

A nice little link-up with Adam Doueihi and Starford To’A, who add to the Tigers tally as full-time approaches.

Too little too late, but a nice double for the Tigers centre.

Broncos 44, Tigers 24 with three minutes to go

We’re down to the final 10 minutes, and the Broncos have cracked the 40s.

Reece Walsh puts the kick up high at the end of the set, Jaiyden Hunt takes the ball and passes the ball one-handed out to Gehamat Shibasaki to score.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Broncos crack 50 before full-time, which is disappointing considering how competitive the Tigers were in the first 50 minutes of the match.

Broncos 44, Tigers 18 with eight minutes to go

The Tigers probably won’t win this contest, but they aren’t giving up the fight.

Api Koroisau hands the ball back to Royce Hunt on the inside, and Payne Haas, Pat Carrigan and Reece Walsh can’t stop him.

The bunker intervenes though, and takes the try away, after a review shows that Fonua Pole helps push Hunt across the line.

Either way, this is great determination from the Tigers, who have a relentlessness about them that’s lacked the past few years.

Broncos 38, Tigers 18 with 14 minutes to go

The points are flowing freely now, as the Broncos run 100 metres in the set and Billy Walters scores.

Kotoni Staggs gets the ball to Selwyn Cobbo on the right edge, and he takes off down the field. Walters is there in support, and Cobbo offloads to his teammate when Jahream Bula comes across to cover.

Broncos 38, Tigers 18 with 18 minutes to go

There’s still plenty of time left in this contest, but the Broncos have just hit 30 points.

A Reece Walsh pass across three players, and Jesse Arthars is across for his second try of the night.

That’s seven tries for the season for Arthars, which makes him the leading try scorer this season.

Walsh takes over kicking duties with Reynolds injured, and he slots it over soundly.

Broncos 32, Tigers 18 with 20 minutes to go

Don’t count the Tigers out just yet.

A goal line dropout and a repeat set have the Tigers up in the Broncos face, and Sione Fainu surges 12 metres through Xavier Willison, Reece Walsh, Corey Jensen and Jack Gosiewski to score.

Api Koroisau converts from in front to make the difference eight points.

Update on Latu Fainu – he has been deemed as showing category one concussion symptoms which means he will not return tonight.

Adam Reynolds will also not return after suffering a hamstring injury during a conversion attempt.

Broncos 26, Tigers 18

Another halfback injury, this time with Latu Fainu going off for a head injury assessment after his head collided with Kotoni Staggs’ hip.

Royce Hunt comes into the contest for Fainu, and Api Koroisau is back on the field too.

Broncos 26, Tigers 12 with 30 minutes to go

The Tigers are at risk of being blown out of the park in this second half.

Two minutes after Willison gets his double, skipper Adam Reynolds scores from his own chip and chase.

He gets to convert his own try, and Brisbane are starting to run away with this match.

The Broncos have a problem though, Reynolds comes from the field clutching his hamstring.
