A person’s body has been found at the scene of a suspicious house fire west of Brisbane.

Emergency services were called to a home on Strack Road in Geham, north of Toowoomba, about 2.50am Tuesday, and arrived to find it “fully engulfed” in flame.

Fire crews had the blaze under control by 4am and were still working to dampen down the scene about 8am.

After initial searches of the scene, police and fire investigation crews uncovered a body.

Officers had yet to identify the person who died, and did not know the cause of the blaze, but described it as suspicious.

They said the structure was heavily damaged, and declared a crime scene around the area.
