On Sunday, officers were called to the 300 block of Craig Henry Drive in Nepean at around 9:30 a.m. for reports of shots fired.

Mahad Elmi, 20, of Ottawa, was taken to hospital, where he died. A 21-year-old man was also taken to hospital with injuries that were serious, but not life-threatening.

In a Tuesday afternoon news release, police released two photos of a vehicle they believed was at the scene of the shooting.

However, police did not provide details of the make and model of the car, nor did they provide a licence plate number.

“Investigators believe that the vehicle depicted in the still images is the suspect vehicle,” the release read.

Anyone with information about the vehicle or the case was asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service homicide unit at 613-236-1222 extension 5493 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
