Ottawa police seize more magic mushrooms and cash in second raid on site in two days

Ottawa police announced on Friday that they had seized a variety of psilocybin products and cash on Thursday at a location in the 100 block of Montreal Road that had been selling the illegal drug.

The raid target was at the same location as a raid the previous day that resulted in the seizure of psilocybin products and cash. One person was charged in that raid.

An additional individual was charged in the Thursday raid. They face charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance and possession of proceeds of crime.

In the release, police said they will continue to closely monitor the opening and re-opening of illegal shops selling controlled substances, including psilocybin, and will take decisive enforcement action to shut the operations down.

Police also cautioned property owners and landlords that “knowingly allowing illegal drug sales on their premises could result in criminal charges, proceeds of crime seizures, and forfeiture of assets.”

The raids followed several instances of what police said were arson at multiplepsilocybin stores in the city.

Members of the public can report suspected drug activity, including use, sales, or manufacturing, online through the OPS website.
