Philippines Rom-Com ‘My Love Will Make You Disappear’ Opens Promisingly At North American & Local Box Office​on March 31, 2025 at 5:05 pm

Philippine romantic comedy My Love Will Make You Disappear, which stars A-listers Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino, has raked in approximately $500,000 across 225 screens in North America over its opening weekend.

In the Philippines, the film has earned P40 million (almost $700,000) at the local box office.

On its opening day on March 26, My Love Will Make You Disappear made over $209,000 in ticket sales in the Philippines, marking the highest opening day gross among all local films so far this year.

ABS-CBN Studios has experienced several successful theatrical runs for its films over the last two years, including Un/Happy For You and Hello, Love, Again — the latter became the Philippines’ top-grossing film in history, taking over $27.8M at the global box office.

My Love Will Make You Disappear follows Sari (played by Chiu), who has spent most of her life believing that she is cursed as every man she loves has mysteriously disappeared. To protect herself from further heartbreak, she has sworn off romance, until she meets Jolo (played by Avelino), a brooding landlord weighed down by personal failures and the burden of inheriting a struggling apartment complex. As Jolo and Sari work together to save the community from being displaced, their bond deepens.

Directed by Chad Vidanes, My Love Will Make You Disappear was written by Patrick Valencia and Isabella Policarpio. The film was distributed stateside by Abramorama.

This is the first film that Chiu and Avelino are starring together as leads, after appearing alongside each other in two series: Linlang and the Philippines’ adaptation of Korean drama What Happened to Secretary Kim.
