City police are seeking a woman who is believed to be responsible for causing a collision that took the life of an 80-year-old cyclist.

They say that on Sept. 18 at 10:45 a.m., a man was riding his e-bike on a pathway beneath the Reconciliation Bridge in the 500 block of Riverside Avenue S.E. when he was involved in a crash.

“A review of CCTV in the area has revealed that minutes before the collision occurred, a woman is observed interfering with a pathway barrier, causing it to encroach onto the cycle path,” police said in a release.

“The cyclist . . . was unaware of the obstruction and collided with the swinging arm of the barrier, knocking him to the ground.”

Police say the following day, they learned the man had died in hospital from his injuries.

They’re searching for a woman they believe has information in the case and have also released the CCTV images.

The woman is described as having long, dark hair tied in a ponytail with a white ribbon and was wearing a light-coloured T-shirt that read “Peace for All.”

The fatality followed the July 11 death of a cyclist in his 60s when he and the e-bike he was operating fell under the trailer of a moving dump truck at 26th Avenue and 32nd Street S.W.
