Fresh off his 3-country tour across Asia, President Donald Trump may have learned some new terms … and he couldn’t wait to use one of them in a sit-down on “60 Minutes.”
In an extended interview clip from Sunday night’s program, POTUS tells Norah O’Donnell, “I just left Japan … [Chuck Schumer] has become a kamikaze pilot. This guy is a kamikaze. He would rather see the country fail than have Trump and the Republicans do well.”
Of course, the federal government shutdown — now in its 34th day — was the topic of discussion, and Trump blamed the Senate Minority Leader for what is inching toward becoming the longest shutdown in U.S. history … the current record is 35 days, occurring during Trump’s first term. DT promised he would not end this one while “being extorted” by Democrats.
When O’Donnell asked, “What happens on November 15 when the troops don’t get a paycheck?” Trump just barreled on, alleging, “Schumer is a basket case and he has nothing to lose.”
So when will this all-important game of chicken end? Trump seemed confident his opposing party would cave in.
“I think they have to,” he told O’Donnell. “And if they don’t, that’s their problem.”
