Around 1,000 people turned out to a protest at the US consulate in south Belfast to protest US President Donald Trump’s stance on Gaza.
Placards with the new President’s face alongside bloody hands accompanied hundreds of other displays of support for the Palestinian cause.
Mr Trump has said he wants the United States to “take over” Gaza and said millions of displaced Palestinians would have no right to return to the territory under his plan, which has been criticised by figures including Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
The US President has also faced further criticism this week after sharing a bizarre AI video on social media showing a vision of a future Gaza Strip with skyscrapers and golden statues of himself.
Over 60,000 Palestinians are reported to have been killed since Israel launched an invasion of Gaza, following a Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023.

Protesters at Saturday’s march on the US consulate off the Malone Road said Mr Trump wanted to turn Gaza into “his version of a Zionist Disneyland” and called for a permanent ceasefire to end the war.
The first stage of a ceasefire agreement was tested last weekend as Israel blocked entry of all humanitarian aid into Gaza as it demands Hamas agree to a US plan for a ceasefire extension.
