DALLAS — A Dallas-based nonprofit that provides LGBTQ+ health and wellness services announced a $12 million fundraising campaign this weekend to create a multi-specialty healthcare home.

The home, Resource Center Health, would provide holistic care and support to the LGBTQ+ community, including an onsite pharmacy, HIB and STI testing and treatment, as well as hot meals and a food pantry for those living with HIV.

“We are now able to serve more people in need of dedicated LGBTQIA+ healthcare, from PrEP to primary care,” said Cece Cox, chief executive officer of Resource Center, in a statement. “Building health equity is a priority and Resource Center Health will change the healthcare landscape in North Texas.”

The “Our Health, Our Community” campaign also includes funding for a Chief Medical Officer.

“Many of us have faced bias in seeking affirmative medical care,” said Chris LaGrone, president, Board of Directors, in a statement. “And we are using our experiences to ensure a compassionate and safe environment for the LGBTQIA+ community.”

Resource Center says it has raised $6.7 million to date.

It was founded in 1983 and is the third-largest center in the nation, providing programs and services to the LGBTQ+ community, as well as assistance to people living with HIV and AIDS. For more information, click here.
