Is Rory McIlroy teeing up a career on the big screen? The professional golfer is set to make his film debut in the upcoming sequel to Happy Gilmore.
The 35-year-old will be swapping his native Holywood for Hollywood when he appears in the movie, which is set for release on Netflix later this year.
Given that he’s a professional in the sport, Rory leads the golfing contingent which also includes Bryson DeChambeau, Will Zalatoris, Brooks Kopka, Scottie Scheffler and Justin Thomas.
Rory will also star alongside Taylor Swift’s nepo boyfriend Travis Kelce, AEW wrestler Maxwell Jacob Friedman and popstar Bad Bunny.
Of course, it wouldn’t be Happy Gilmore if Adam Sandler wasn’t coming back to reprise his iconic role as the goofy hockey-player-turned-golfer.
Luckily for us, Adam will be writing the sequel script alongside the original co-writer Tim Herlihy, so we can rest assured the same wit and humour from its predecessor will prevail.
Happy Gilmore 2 will also see Rocky star Carl Weathers, Modern Family’s Julie Bowen, and pro golfer Lee Trevino reprise their roles.

The release date hasn’t been confirmed yet, but the film is set to join Netflix at some point in 2025, so it’s be swiftly added to our watchlists.
Filming has begun on Happy Gilmore 2 and it’s safe to say fans can’t wait, branding it a ‘must-see’!
