RTE Late Late Show viewers have all praised TikTok sensation Garron Noone after his “inspiring” chat on The Late Late Show.
The comedian joined host Patrick Kielty in the RTE studios this evening to talk about his remarkable success over the past year.
Garron appeared on the Late Late Show for the Country Music Special last year where he surprised viewers with his outstanding rendition of a Kieth Whitley song.
Speaking to Garron on tonight’s show, Kielty asked: “How does it feel to now be Ireland’s official online ambassador to planet earth?”
Garron replied: “Yeah it’s a strange one. I’m probably not the best man for people to be getting all their information off but that’s the way it’s gone.”
He continued: “It’s been great – I have a lot of Americans that get onto me before they come and they say, ‘Your videos taught be about Ireland,’ and a lot of people who move here now watch my videos to understand the Irish humour.
“Which they may or may not be getting a good understanding of but yeah, it’s been amazing, it’s been wild.”
At the end of each of his videos shared to social media, Garron says: “Follow me, I’m delicious.”
Asking him about the famous phrase, Kielty said: “Was there a lot of thought put into that?”
Garron joked: “Just like everything else I do, absolutely not.”
He then explained: “When I started making TikToks I started making cereal reviews and it was literally me eating the entire bowl of cereal so about a twenty-five minute clip cut up into one minute segments of me just eating cereal.
“I decided I was going to make videos every day when people started watching them and some of them were cr*p.
“So one day I went, ‘This is an awful video so I’m just going to say something random at the end,’ and I went, ‘Follow me, I’m delicious’.”
Patrick said: “And the rest is history.”
The comedian also addressed some of his iconic TikTok videos and later performed a beautiful rendition of Glen Campbell’s Wichita Lineman.
The musician went on to speak about some of the challenges he faced in his younger years.
Garron explained: “I used to suffer from agoraphobia. I started having panic attacks when I was about sixteen.
“One of my friends had died and that sort of started them. They got worse over time, over a few years and eventually, it got to the point where I couldn’t leave the house without having a panic attack.
HONEST CHAT
“I spent about five years completely house bound, having panic attacks every day, couldn’t go to the shops.
“I worked in a phone shop, I could go there, I’d have panic attacks at work but I didn’t do anything else. No social life, no nothing, pretty much just stayed to myself.
“And I put it out there on New Year’s Eve that I felt at that time for many, many years – I felt that my life would never go anywhere, I was never going to have a life that was going to be worth living, I felt really hopeless.
“Out of nowhere, by keeping with it, life has given me so much and I’m doing things now that I never thought I’d be able to do, like you know, being on telly – that would be one of them.”
“There was somebody here tonight who actually said – and it was one of the nicest things that I’ve actually heard in a while.
“Somebody here actually said that there nephew had seen the video and he’d reached out for help, he was suffering with a similar thing, so it’s for that that I do it.
‘NATIONAL TREASURE’
“It’s absolutely amazing to hear that going through that wasn’t for nothing and now I can relate to people and they might find some understanding.”
The pair then spoke about the TikTok ban in America, and Garron said: “I think TikTok is a great thing, TikTok changed my life.”
RTE viewers all raced to social media to praise Garron after his appearance on the show.
Niall said: “Didn’t think I could love Garron Noone anymore than I already did.”
Kevin wrote: “Garron Noone is a national treasure.”
Stephen gushed: “Watching Garron Noone on the #LateLateShow – He just comes across as one of the most genuine and decent people in the public sphere – Delighted he has achieved what he has because he brings so much positivity just by being himself.”
Robert said: “Garron is a National Treasure.”
Another added: “Beautiful man that’s so worth it – thank you, inspiring us all.”
