The Russo Brothers are assembling the Avengers again for Avengers: Doomsday and recruited Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.

As the Marvel Studios production ramps up filming, all eyes will be on them, especially at locations where paparazzi could snap photos and leak spoilers.

However, the filmmakers recently revealed in an interview that they had planned for that and had been intentional about where they were filming.

“We’re pretty good about shutting that down,” Joe Russo told Collider in an interview with Anthony Russo adding, “We’ve sort of strategized to hopefully be effective with that.”

Joe admitted that a lot of the filming would be done in soundstages, saying, “We don’t want people getting photographs, so we are being pretty stringent.”

For scenes outside, Anthony said, “The location work we are doing, we have picked those locations with that in mind, as well.”

The filmmakers also told the publication that each of the Avengers films they are working on would take six months, “a standard-length shoot.”

Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on May 1, 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled for May 2027.

Downey’s return to the MCU was announced at Comic-Con last year where it was announced the actor would play Victor Von Doom in the next two Avengers movies set to be directed by the Russo brothers.

Deadline reported in December that Chris Evans was set to return to the Marvel universe in a role to be determined. Another casting for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday was Hayley Atwell, who would be reprising her role of Agent Carter.

Marvel has had to battle spoiler photos in the past. While Deadpool & Wolverine was being filmed, photos from the set were leaked, which led star Ryan Reynolds to plead for restraint in sharing spoilers.

“Surprises are part of the magic of theatrical movies. It’s important for us to shoot the new ‘Deadpool’ film in real, natural environments, using practical effects as opposed to making the movie indoors and digitally. Telephoto lenses continue to spoil surprises and create a difficult situation for everyone,” Reynolds said in December 2023.
