Takakenew has been busted along with his son, Shane Brandon Lee Takakenew, in the past. In 2017, the father-son duo were arrested in Surrey for multiple break-ins. Diaz was linked to that investigation as well and, as in this case, faced charges for possession of stolen property.

Burnaby RCMP say investigators have been able to return some stolen property in the most recent case against Takakenew Sr. but are urging anyone who needs support to reach out.

“While victims of break-and-enters have to deal with the loss of valuable personal items, there is also an immense emotional toll that comes with this type of crime,” said Sgt. Aly Mohan. “We were able to return a number of items to several victims, but we also want the public to know that we have services in place to assist with the fear and anxiety that people experience in these situations.”
