Friends, fans, and former teammates of former Republic of Ireland underage star Amanda Parkes have paid tribute to her after the 35-year-old’s death.
Amanda was a talented football player representing her country on the under-19 side. She was also a devoted player for Wilton United football club in Cork who called her one of their ‘greatest players.’
She also had a love for GAA and was a former player with Ballypheane Gaa and Ballypheane Ladies Football Club who stated they were ‘heartbroken at the untimely passing’ of their friend.

Amanda’s family posted the sad news of her passing on RIP, breaking the news to those who knew and loved her.
Her death notice reads: ‘On 24th February 2025, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at the Cork University Hospital, Amanda (Lifelong member of Wilton United F.C.), beloved daughter of Celia and Paul, loving sister of Melissa, Garreth, Kim, Jason, Roy and Natasha.
‘Sadly missed by her heartbroken family, her loyal companion Ben, brother-in-law Patrick, sisters-in-law Lorraine and Ann-Marie, nieces, nephews, relative and friends.’
Republic of Ireland star Denise O’Sullivan, who had played alongside Amanda in the past said: ‘I had the pleasure of knowing Amanda and getting to play with her for many years.’
She described her as a ‘beautiful soul,’ who would ‘always put a smile on other people’s faces. Incredibly heartbreaking. Thinking of her family and friends. Rest easy Amanda.’
During the week the FAI also sent their sympathies to her family, posting a picture of the star in action in the past.
‘The FAI sends its condolences to the family, friends and former team-mates of Amanda Parkes, who sadly passed away. The Cork native was a former Ireland international and member of Wilton United. She will be deeply missed.’
Amanda’s funeral will take place Friday 28 in the Church of the Real Presence in Curraheen, Cork
