Drivers couldn’t burn rubber on the Spokane Street Bridge on Saturday morning because the Seattle transportation department closed it for motor repairs.
By Saturday night, the bridge was back to normal.
The swing bridge closed to vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists Friday due to repairs to one of the bridge’s motors, the Seattle Department of Transportation said in a post.
“We made good progress today,” SDOT posted late Friday. “We removed the broken motor & began installing new one. The bridge will be left open for ships overnight (closed to land travel). We hope to reopen the bike path tomorrow morning (Sat 1/25), but bridge will remain closed to cars as repairs continue.”
The bridge reopened to pedestrians and bikers Saturday morning, an SDOT spokesperson said.
SDOT announced around 8:15 p.m. Saturday that the bridge had reopened to all traffic, including cars.
