The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission is urging parents to “stop use immediately and keep it out of the reach of children and babies”.

“Consumers should stop using this product immediately and keep them out of reach of children.
“If you’re in any doubt about the soother your baby or young child has, take it away from them and compare to the picture on ccpc.ie or on our social media channels.

BEACH SHOES
Meanwhile, parents are also being warned about a major risk associated with a pair of beach shoes for kids.
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has issued a safety warning for a pair of shoes sold on Shein online marketplace.
The outdoor beach sandals for toddlers and kids were manufactured by Shenzhen Yashilan Industrial Co. Ltd.
The Product Safety Information notice has been placed on the items, of which there is believed to be 18 in the Republic of Ireland.
The risk reported to the CCPC is chemical.
This is due to the presence of banned or restricted chemicals including Phthalates and extractable lead.
These chemicals are dangerous and can harm children’s health by potentially damaging their reproductive system.
The brand name is Jiageya, while the type/number of model is B240528214041.
The product reference number is sk2311148329089802.
A spokesperson for the company said: “Shein takes product safety very seriously and is committed to offering safe and reliable products to customers.
“As soon as we were informed of these findings (last year), we immediately acted to remove the listing from our site while we conduct an investigation, in line with our own safety protocols.
“On Shein Marketplace, both Shein branded products as well as products from a global network of third-party sellers are available.
“Both our manufacturing suppliers as well as Shein Marketplace sellers must comply with the code of conduct that we have put in place in the relevant Shein agreements and policies and must also abide by the relevant laws and regulations in the countries we operate in.
“Where instances of non-compliance are identified, we will take appropriate action against the sellers of the items involved in accordance with our marketplace policies.
“In terms of product safety, ensuring that our customers can shop with peace of mind is paramount at Shein.
“From design to delivery, we all work to protect our customers at every step of the process. We conduct testing to ensure our products meet our product quality standards, working with some of the world’s top global testing agencies.
“In 2024, we conducted more than 2 million product safety tests.”
