DALLAS — A 54-year-old man turned himself into police and faces murder charges after a fatal shooting in Far North Dallas last month, officials say.
On March 27, Dallas police officers responded to the 2600 block of Frankford Road near Kelly Boulevard and the President George Bush Turnpike shortly before 1 p.m., where they found a male shot, according to DPD.
Dallas Fire-Rescue responded, and the male died at the scene, police said. His body was discovered on the third-floor breezeway, according to an affidavit obtained by WFAA. Dallas police identified the victim as 58-year-old Christopher Simms.
DPD said they were able to identify the suspect, Simuel Norice, after obtaining surveillance video from the apartment complex. Norice was seen fleeing the apartment with a duffel bag 10 minutes after the shooting, according to the affidavit. Authorities eventually recovered the duffel bag and found 70 grams of marijuana, cocaine, 36 grams of fentanyl, a digital scale, and an undisclosed amount of cash.
On April 19, 2025, Norice turned himself into DPD and will be charged with murder. He has also been charged with possession of a controlled substance. His combined bond has been set at $350,000.
