Teen, 17, shot and wounded near South Side high school​on April 15, 2025 at 10:32 pm

A 17-year-old boy was shot and wounded Tuesday near Chicago Vocational Career Academy on the city’s South Side, according to Chicago police.

The teen was shot from a van as he walked along the 2000 block East of 87th Street — a block from the high school — around 4:15 p.m., police said.

The teen, who was wounded in the buttocks, was found in a baseball diamond in nearby Owens Park, according to a source. He was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in fair condition, police said.

A police spokesperson could not confirm whether the teen was a Chicago Vocational student.

No other injuries were reported.
