Protests were held Saturday in Vancouver, Surrey and Langley as part of a global demonstration against the policies of U.S. President Donald Trump and billionaire Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

Organizers with the Tesla Takedown global day of action are encouraging people to dump their Tesla stocks and boycott buying the cars because they say Musk is using wealth from the company to fund political action that threatens democracy.

Musk, an unelected government employee, is leading the team (DOGE) that is cutting jobs and department budgets. He’s also come under fire for giving Fascist salutes and backing up Trump’s annexation threats against Canada.

In Vancouver, about 100 people turned out holding signs with anti-Musk slogans such as “don’t buy cars from Nazis,” and “send Elon back to space.”

Another placard proclaimed: “Even Mars doesn’t want you loser.” Some held up printed out photos of Musk’s controversial salute, which he did twice at Trump’s inauguration.

Thousands of protesters also turned out at similar rallies across the U.S., Canada and Europe.

One of the signs displayed at the London protest showed a photo of Musk next to an image of Adolf Hitler making the Nazi salute — a gesture that Musk has been accused of reprising shortly after Trump’s Jan. 20 inauguration.

A person in a Tyrannosaurus rex costume held another sign with a picture of Musk’s straight-arm gesture that said, “You thought the Nazis were extinct. Don’t buy a Swasticar.”

On Friday, the Vancouver police said they were adding more officers for the protests following 28 acts of vandalism against Teslas, charging stations or car dealerships since January.
