Open from June 1 to August 31, the Drumshanbo outdoor pool is located next to the stunning Acres Lake and is one of the few outdoor pools in Ireland.
The heated pool operates throughout the summer, everyday from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm.
This little-known spot is 25 metres in length, and there is also a paddling pool for young children – ensuring fun for all ages.
Operated by Aura Leisure, the pool is well-maintained and offers a range of facilities including individual changing cubicles, disabled toilets and showers.
Right next to the pool, there are benches and tables, offering guests the perfect spot for a family picnic.
For those looking to do more than swim, there are also two tennis courts located next to the pool.
What’s more there’s even a children’s playground – offering plenty of options for fun for all ages.
The surrounding area is perfect for a leisurely stroll or family picnic, with beautiful green spaces and scenic views overlooking the breathtaking Acres Lake.
For those interested in exploring more, the area is home to the Shannon Blueway, a 6.5 km walking and cycling trail that leads to Battlebridge Lock.
And guests can also visit the stunning Acres Lake Boardwalk, Ireland’s first floating boardwalk.
Admission fees are affordable, with children entering for €4.50 and adults for €5.50 for a one-hour and 15-minute session, and there are also memberships available.
And for those who want to stay longer, if the pool isn’t busy, swimmers can enjoy all of the facilities until closing time.
Stunning town nearby
This hidden gem is also close to the lovely town of Drumshanbo.
Drumshanbo is most well-known for its scenic beauty and the town features a mix of traditional Irish pubs, shops and cafes.
It’s also home to the Sliabh an Iarainn Visitor Centre, where you can explore the industrial heritage of the area.
The town overlooks lush green hills and offers access to some of the most picturesque landscapes in all of Leitrim.
