Forgotten documents concerned secret meeting with Biden advisor
One of the classified documents which Sweden’s former national security advisor forgot at a conference hotel concerned a secret meeting with President Joe Biden’s security advisor Jake Sullivan, the Dagens Nyheter newspaper has revealed.
At least one of the documents concerned the meeting, which was about Sweden’s strategy for getting its Nato application approved by Turkey. The documents included classified information from Säpo’s security police and the Swedish Armed Forces.
The actual meeting was held at lunch on March 13th, 2023, but the newspaper was not aware of whether it was held physically or over a video link. After the meeting, Landerholm took a taxi to the conference hotel where the documents were later found.
Landerholm is charged with negligence in the handling of classified information and the trial begins next week. He denies the crime.
