Trump approves disaster relief for Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas and North Carolina
President Donald Trump announced on social media that he approved disaster relief for Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas and North Carolina.
The states are grappling with severe storm damage, particularly after a landslide and flash flooding forced the closure of Interstate 40 near the Tennessee-North Carolina border.
Trump’s announcement comes just over a week after he emphasized that states should be responsible for disaster relief and should not rely on the federal government, specifically FEMA.
The White House previously denied requests from North Carolina and Arkansas.

Trump says there are ‘too many non-working holidays in America’ on Juneteenth
President Donald Trump took to his social media platform on Thursday to say that there are “too many non-working holidays in America.”
His comments come on Juneteenth, the federal holiday that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.
Trump claimed that federal holidays are costing the country billions of dollars, and workers do not support them either.
“It must change if we are going to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump wrote.
Former President Joe Biden enshrined Juneteenth as a federal holiday in 2021, and it was celebrated at the White House every June 19 of his administration.
Notably, the White House kept a full schedule on Thursday.

Leavitt can not say if Trump will mark Juneteenth
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked if President Donald Trump would mark Juneteenth, the federal holiday marked to remember the end of slavery, on Thursday.
“I’m not tracking his signature on a proclamation today. I know this is a federal holiday. I want to thank all of you for showing up to work. We are certainly here,” she responded.

Leavitt pressed for more details on Trump, Iran timetable
ABC News’ Mary Bruce asked Leavitt to clarify the president’s statement that he would make a decision within the next two weeks.
“Is he saying that if Iran does not come back to the negotiating table within the next two weeks, that the president will strike?” she asked.
“The president is saying that he will make a decision whether or not to go within the next two weeks. It’s very clear and direct,” Leavitt said.
Bruce followed up asking if the president is seeing any hope for negotiations.
“That’s why he said in the statement that I just read for all of you, based on the fact that there’s a substantial chance of negotiations that may or may not take place with Iran in the near future, he will make that decision within the next few weeks,” Leavitt said.
