EXCLUSIVE: Even before thier highly-anticipated thriller Him hits theaters this fall, Tyriq Withers and Universal has already found the next film to collaborate on as sources tell Deadline Withers is set to co-star opposite Maika Monroe in the studio’s adaptation of the Colleen Hoover novel Reminders of Him. Withers will star opposite Maika Monroe who plays Kenna Rowan, and Vanessa Caswill is set to direct the film.
The blockbuster literary phenomenon from #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover, Reminders of Him, becomes a transformative feature film about motherhood, forgiveness and the power of one love to heal even the most shattered heart. The screenplay for Reminders of Him is written by Colleen Hoover and Lauren Levine, based on Hoover’s novel.
Hoover and Levine are producing the film through their production company, Heartbones Entertainment. Gina Matthews is producing through her Little Engine Productions. Robin Fisichella is executive producing. Director of Production Development Christine Sun will oversee the project for the Studio.

First published in 2022, Reminders of Him has sold more than 6 million copies in the United States and is a best seller around the world. Hoover is the bestselling author of numerous novels, including It Ends with Us, It Starts with Us, Layla, Heart Bones, Confess and Verity.
For Universal Pictures, Withers will next star in the highly anticipated psychological horror feature Him from Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions, where he stars as a promising young football player who is invited to train at the isolated compound of a dynasty team’s aging QB1, played by Marlon Wayans. Universal Pictures will release Him wide on Friday, September 19, 2025. Early footage from the film was recently presented during Universal Pictures’ presentation at CinemaCon in April 2025.
Withers is also set to star in the upcoming sequel in the horror hit series I Know What You Did Last Summer, which is set to bow this July. He is also set to star in the ACE Entertainment pic Family Secrets.
