​A 35-year-old Whitby man is wanted on an arrest warrant after being accused of sexual assaults against a child and an adult. Durham Regional Police said the first incident allegedly happened in January when the suspect was visiting friends in Clarington and allegedly touched a nine-year-old in an inappropriate manner. The second incident allegedly  happened

Durham Regional Police said the first incident allegedly happened in January when the suspect was visiting friends in Clarington and allegedly touched a nine-year-old in an inappropriate manner.

The second incident allegedly  happened in February. Police said the accused allegedly sexually assaulted an adult at a home in Whitby. Cops said the victim allegedly woke up to the suspect sexually assaulting her. The suspect then brought the victim to his vehicle where he allegedly assaulted her as well.

Police said they are concerned there may be additional victims.

Jared Mercieca is wanted for sexual interference with a person under 16 years of age, two counts of sexual assault, assault causing bodily harm, choking, uttering threats to cause death and dangerous operation.

He is a white male, 5-foot-6 with a medium build and has brown hair and a full beard.
