The City of Calgary will be adjusting recycling, organics and waste pick up in some areas as they add routes to accomodate a number of new communities.

In a press release Tuesday, city officials asked residents to see if their blue, green and black bin pick-up days is changing starting Tuesday, April 22.

“We’re asking residents to check their schedule online, to see if their collection day or week is changing, and to find out when their weekly green cart service resumes,” says Natalia Gonzalez, Waste Diversion Specialist in Waste & Recycling Services. “For example, a collection day may move from Wednesday to Thursday or may shift to the opposite week. To avoid missed pickups, we encourage Calgarians to visit calgary.ca/cartschedule and sign up for reminders.”

Information about waste pick-up is also available with the My Garbage Day App, that allows users to set up reminders and alerts and check the schedule using your address.

Starting next week organics pick up will return to weekly collection with spring yard clean up soon underway.

Green bins need to be filled before using brown organics bags, which can be left a half metre away from your other bins with the tops rolled closed. The bags also need to be light enought to lift with one hand.
