What to Know
Towson has gone 3-0 against North Carolina A&T recently and they’ll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The two teams will face off in a Coastal Athletic battle at 7:00 p.m. ET at TU Arena. The Aggies are crawling into this matchup hobbled by six consecutive losses, while the Tigers will bounce in with four consecutive wins.
Towson is headed into this one after the oddsmakers set last week’s over/under low at 131.5, but even that wound up being too high. They secured a 53-49 W over Stony Brook on Saturday.
Towson’s victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mekhi Lowery, who went 6 for 9 en route to 13 points plus six rebounds and three steals.
Towson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they’ve now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.
Meanwhile, North Carolina A&T lost 74-73 to Hampton on a last-minute free throw From Xzavier Long.
Despite their defeat, North Carolina A&T saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Landon Glasper, who had 21 points in addition to five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Glasper had some trouble finding his footing against Monmouth on Thursday, so this was a nice turnaround. Another player making a difference was Camian Shell, who earned 12 points.
Towson pushed their record up to 10-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for North Carolina A&T, their loss dropped their record down to 4-16.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Towson hasn’t given up the ball easily this season, having only averaged 9.7 turnovers per game. However, it’s not like North Carolina A&T struggles in that department as they’ve been averaging only 9.8. Given these competing strengths, it’ll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
