We all have a foundation hack that we find extends the life of a makeup look for an extra few hours. Some people use their concealer after applying foundation and find it lasts longer, and others do it the other way around.
Baking was popular a few years ago as a foundation, applying a heavy layer of powder to a fresh face base and leaving it there to ‘bake’ your makeup.
That dropped as a trend when super-matte skin went out of fashion and glass skin and a dewy finish became very much in. But, people still want longevity when it comes to makeup so we asked a Pro artist what her top tip is and it’s going to blow your mind if you do it properly.

Makeup artist Eleanor Howarth is a freelance MUA and part of the Pro team at Charlotte Tilbury. Based in Manchester, Eleanor works all over the UK but when she has any spare time she visits her family in Kinsale.
Eleanor was in London with the rest of Charlotte’s Pro squad for the opening of her new beauty emporium in Covent Garden which drew a crowd of hundreds queuing to see the new store. When we asked Eleanor for her best foundation hack, we never imagined it would be this good, you need to know this before your next big night out.
Foundation Hack
The foundation hack requires two products, Charlotte’s Airbrush Flawless Finish powder compact and setting spray. Eleanor says that when the makeup is complete to apply a layer of the powder to skin and then to set the makeup with the spray.
She says ‘When the setting spray is melting into the skin you need to go in again with the Airbrush powder on a powder puff. Going in with the powder again is top-tier, it’s the secret to flawless skin. Your skin is 90% of your face and you want that to be the most flawless part.’
