PAUL Kee insists his red-hot Welders team will turn up the heat on Newry City when the Playr-Fit Championship relegation battlers come to Blanchflower Stadium on Saturday.
The Welders are on a nine-match unbeaten run which had taken them to within eight points of leaders Bangor with a game in hand in the fight for a place in the Sports Direct Premiership.
Kee said: “Newry are fighting for their lives. We have to try and keep our run going to maintain a push for the top. There is expectation on any team near the top of the league.
“It’s about getting points on the board. The players are keeping their feet firmly on the ground.”
Bangor face a tricky test when they tackle Armagh City at Holm Park ahead of next Friday night’s glamour Clearer Water Irish Cup quarter-final against Glentoran at Clandeboye Park.
The Championship’s other remaining Irish Cup hopefuls Ards are at home to top-flight Loughgall next weekend but first turn their attention to basement boys Newington at Clandeboye Park on Saturday.
Ballinamallard host Ballyclare, while Limavady go to Annagh.
All this weekend’s Championship clashes kick off at 3pm on Saturday, except Dundela’s showdown with Institute at Wilgar Park (2pm).
