DALLAS — Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn is a new dad.
Jamie and his wife Jessica announced the birth of their baby Knox Jay Benn in an Instagram post on Sunday.
Knox Jay Benn was born April 3, according to the post.
“What a privilege it is to be his parents,” the couple wrote in the post. “We are overwhelmed with love.”
The couple had announced Jessica’s pregnancy in a social media post in January.
Benn isn’t the first Dallas Stars player to announce the birth of a new baby this year. Earlier this year, Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin and his wife, Kate, announced the birth of their first child, a daughter named Wren Katherine, in January.
The Benns’ announcement came the day after the Stars lost Game 1 of their first-round Western Conference playoff series against the Colorado Avalanche 5-1 Saturday.
Game 2 is Monday night at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, before the series moves to Denver.
Benn praised his wife in his media availability ahead of the game on Monday.
“Obviously, our wives are MVPs this time of year,” Benn said. “You know they log most of the dirty hours — the late nights — they make it easier on us.”
