Police are advising drivers to avoid the area after a crash at Lougheed Highway and Production Way in Burnaby.

At about 12:20 p.m., Burnaby Mounties were called to the busy intersection about the crash involving four vehicles and a pedestrian.

The intersection has been shut down in all directions.

Three people in the vehicles and the pedestrian were taken to hospital. The vehicle occupants had minor injuries but the pedestrian is in serious condition.

“As we approach the afternoon commute, we are asking the public to avoid the area, as the intersection will likely be closed into the evening hours,” warned RCMP Cpl. Mike Kalanj.
