Deputies with the Broward Sheriff’s Office are investigating a hit-and-run that they said left a woman dead on Wednesday night in Oakland Park.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office said deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded to the scene, where they found a woman who they say had been struck by a vehicle.
Authorities say the driver fled the scene after the collision, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies confirmed that an investigation is ongoing, with BSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit now leading the case.
No other details about the victim, suspect or vehicle involved in the crash have been disclosed at this time.

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – Deputies with the Broward Sheriff’s Office are investigating a hit-and-run that they said left a person dead on Wednesday night in Oakland Park.

The crash occurred just after 8 p.m. at the intersection of Powerline Road and Northwest Ninth Avenue.
Authorities said they shut down the southbound lanes between Northwest 38th Avenue and Prospect Road shortly after the crash occurred.
Motorists are being asked to seek alternate routes at this time.
Details on the victim and suspect have not yet been disclosed.
