The Road to WrestleMania 41 reaches its destination this weekend. WWE’s biggest annual show begins Saturday, featuring a main event that might be the weekend’s most anticipated match.
CM Punk, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins share the spotlight in Night 1’s finale. Punk will headline a WrestleMania card for the first time after a nearly three-decade-long career. Punk and Reigns’ separate friendships with Paul Heyman have added more tension to an already volatile feud.
But that’s not all. This event is always loaded with massive matches that are sure to get the fans inside Allegiant Stadium going wild all night. There’s the United States championship match between titleholder LA Knight and challenger Jacob Fatu, who many believe is destined to become a main event player sooner than later. There’s also the WWE women’s championship match between champion Tiffany Stratton and challenger Charlotte Flair, and things between the two have certainly gotten spicy in the last few weeks. Plus, the bitter rivalry between Jade Cargill and Naomi reaches its crescendo when the two square off.
There was one late adjustment to the action on Saturday night. Rey Mysterio was scheduled to face El Grande Americano after weeks of build up. But Mysterio suffered an apparent injury on Friday’s edition of SmackDown as he was seen being helped by officials back to the locker room after his match. In his place steps another luchador in Rey Fenix, who just made his WWE debut a few weeks ago. He’s the real life brother of another luchador who recently debuted in Penta, who competes on Sunday for the intercontinental title.
