Rep. Rob Kauffman is hosting the AARP Smart Driver Course for older drivers in Franklin County.
According to a community announcement, the course aims to enhance driving skills for residents in the 89th District, which includes Greene, Guilford, Hamilton townships, and Chambersburg Borough.
The AARP Smart Driver Course offers a refresher class and a full two-day course.
Participants will learn current road rules, defensive driving techniques and safe vehicle operation.
Classes will take place from 8 a.m. to noon at Menno Haven Life Center, 300 Ridgeview in Chambersburg.
The schedule is as follows: Friday, April 11, for the refresher class; Thursday, May 22, and Friday, May 23, for the full course; and Thursday, Aug. 7, and Friday, Aug. 8, for another full course. There are no tests to pass.
The cost is $20 for AARP members and $25 for non-members, payable by check or money order.
Space is limited, and registration is required by calling Kauffman’s district office at 717-264-3943.
Upon completion, participants may qualify for Pennsylvania’s multi-year auto insurance discount for drivers ages 55 and older. Consult your insurance agent for more details.
