Re: Recent headlines stating that Mark Carney said his ministers are looking for ways to cut spending at cabinet retreat

Since cutting spending confounds the Carney cabinet (Liberals, you know), how about some grassroots suggestions:

  • Cut all ministers’ and MPs’ salaries by 25 per cent. Lead by example.
  • Eliminate “retreats.” Meet in person on Parliament Hill or around Meech Lake.
  • Fly domestically behind the curtain in economy. If we can, you can.
  • Scrap subsidized child care. It’s not working.
  • Dump the EV hype. Heavy cars chew up roads and catch fire.
  • Slash interprovincial trade barriers. Provinces can’t seem to get this done.
  • Don’t you dare raise the HST as an “austerity” measure to reduce your deficit.

COMPLY? DISGUSTING

Re: York police chief defends advice to ‘comply’ with intruders after father killed protecting family, online, Sept. 5

I am absolutely disgusted when I hear a police chief suggest that we simply “comply” with someone breaking into our homes. Would they like us to open the door for them, perhaps show them where our valuables are or feed them if they’re hungry? While I have no faith in our justice system anymore, and, by extension, our law enforcement, I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt because I know they are being told to go easy on criminals thanks to the Liberals. I’m sure most police are as enraged by this as most Canadians are.

No sooner are criminals arrested than they’re released to go out and do it again. How many times have we heard about them being arrested for committing a crime while out on bail?

The Liberals continue to put the safety and lives of Canadians at risk.

HEARTBROKEN BY DESCRIPTION

As an Ahmadi Muslim, I was heartbroken to see police describe the killing of Abdul Aleem Farooqi in Vaughan as a targeted robbery. He was an honest father, a business owner, a proud Canadian and a fellow Muslim who lived with integrity.

This tragedy reflects failed bail reform and a revolving door of offenders.
