CHANGE IS REQUIRED

Here is the cold, hard truth about politics in Canada. Boomers aren’t to blame for the Liberals staying in power, it is geographical; just look at the electoral map.

Large urban centres like Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal swing a very big electoral stick, and thus control who is in power, and as much as I think Pierre Poilievre would make a great prime minister, with a clear path forward, there are far too many who feel his pitbull attitude is too abrasive.

So herein lies the conundrum; he either softens his approach or steps aside and allows another Erin O’Toole (whom I did like) to take the helm. It’s not what I prefer, but what is necessitated by our left-leaning electorate.

POILIEVRE A VICTIM

Pierre Poilievre is a victim of Liberal left-wing media, pure and simple. The CBC and CTV networks have belittled his character and melded him with Trump. How dos one defend themselves with that perpetual narrative?

FUEL CHARGE FRUSTRATION

I mailed a small bubble envelope to Toronto and was charged a fuel charge of three dollars and 10 cents. The public is again being squeezed to pay for their demands. It is on my receipt as fuel charged for the delivery car.

PROMISES, NOT PARTY KEY

The way I see it, MPs make promises to the people, and as long as they keep their promises, what party they belong to shouldn’t matter.

When two or more MPs switch sides, then an automatic leadership vote should take place.

FOLLOW CALGARY’S LEAD

Calgary City Hall will now fly only Canadian, provincial and municipal flags, not other countries’ national flags.

Interestingly, a motion to consider banning the raising of national flags was defeated last month just days after the flag of Palestine was hoisted.

Since October 2023, Canada has seen more anti-Israel protests than ever seen before. And with those protests, the flag of Palestine is always seen, and chants of “Globalize the Intifada,” and, “From the river to the sea,” are always heard.

Calgary did the right thing. Ottawa should follow Calgary’s lead and do the right thing also.
