GARBAGE PICKUP STINKS

Given that this is the capital of Canada, our garbage collection (excluding the recyclable bins) is totally disgusting and unrealistic.

During the colder months, putting out the garbage every two weeks is not a problem, but every two weeks during the hot summer months is just not acceptable. No matter how hard one tries to dispose of the garbage bags in the most hygienic and clean way, when the weather hits the 30s and the humidex hits the 40s, it is almost impossible to prevent maggots and the smell of rotting garbage.
My recommendation would be to have the garbage picked up once a week during the hot, humid summer months (ie. long May weekend to Labour Day weekend.)

The reimagining of Bank Street has been in the news a fair amount. The society wholeheartedly agrees with the redevelopment. We can’t wait to get our morning coffee and paper, sit on the new park benches, inhale copious amounts of exhaust fumes, then watch cars and trucks play ping-pong with bicyclists.
It is with great hubris that the NCC takes delight in trying to redevelop Sussex Drive. The locals, not so much. Imagine putting a multi-unit development in such a refined neighbourhood. Instead, the locals suggest restaurants and parks. We agree with the residents. I walk my dog there. It’s a protest. What a better place to have my dog do his business than in an area filled with nose-in-the-air, we’re-better-than-you snobs.

That, folks, is what passes for news in the City of Ottawa.

SEE YOU SOON (HOPEFULLY)
Re: Recent headlines about governor of Maine issuing pleas for Canadian tourists to return to the U.S.
Sorry, you need to clear your infection first. It’s not just the insults, it’s the abrogation of the rule of law and civil discourse. Your beaches and shopping centres will still be there (we hope) once you’re healthy again. Until then, we’ll wish you well from this side of the yellow quarantine tape. Good Luck!
