To 30-year-old letter writer Nick Dunlay, I say I agree with virtually everything you say about our current government (regarding its spending and the unattainable dream of home ownership).
However, my sympathy for your plight ends with the fact that your generation (maybe not you specifically) is largely responsible for bringing the Justin Trudeau Liberal regime into power, a decade ago, for no other real reason than it would mean legal marijuana and not caring about what the real issues were … and here we are.
Hope the legal highs were worth it, dudes, because now you’re reaping the rewards for such an immature choice. I know the rest of us are just as thrilled about it.
To make things worse, there is pressure to lower the voting age to 16! It should be raised to 21 for this reason alone. Granted, there are many adults who don’t seem to put a lot of thought into the future when they vote, either.

DEFINITELY GO WITH GRIPENS
Re: YOU SAID IT: Go with the Gripen, online, Nov. 25
I couldn’t agree with letter writer Wayne Boyce more on the purchase of the Swedish Gripens.
The Swedish deal is so much better for Canada. I would assert that we cancel the initial batch of American jets that it’s assumed we’ll buy. Let the American administration sue us! Gives us an opportunity to renegotiate that price.
And forget about jets for a moment. This is about sending a message to our trading partners globally.
Don’t mess with Canada.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL?
God rest ye weary taxpayer
From owing nothing now in dismay
Remember you could have changed
Things that fateful 28th April day
To save us all from Liberal larceny

Now that our economy’s gone astray
O crying the comforts we once enjoyed
Comforts we enjoyed
Now foreclosures and thousands unemployed
And in the end Carney’s EU dividends made him
Wealthier by using the ol’ Elbows Up ploy
O crying the country we once enjoyed
Canada that was strong not Trump’s decoy!
