Re: Justin Trudeau attends King Charles’ throne speech wearing colourful shoes, online, May 27

I’m embarrassed (sort of) to admit it, but Justin Trudeau and I have something in common. Well, more than one thing. We have two. We both wear Gazelles. Mine, though, would have looked better with that awful shade of blue suit he wore to hear the throne speech, which, admittedly, I did not hear.

Anyway, here’s the thing about Adidas Gazelles (Trudeau should take note): They leave nothing to the imagination.

Having said that, the other thing Trudeau and I have in common, which is blatantly obvious as shown in one news photo, is we both have a bunion on our right foot.

So, there you have it. Gazelles and a bunion.

NOW NO NEED TO HIDE IT

Re: Alcohol in public parks pilot project to proceed, City of Ottawa says, online, May 28

So, a pilot project to test out something that people have been doing pretty much forever.

Brilliant isn’t the adjective I would use.

But at least the drinkers will have the same freedom as the intravenous drug users.

LOT OF BREAD DOUGH

Loblaw and George Weston have agreed to pay $500 million for being involved in the bread price-fixing scandal a few years ago.

That’s a lot of bread. I mean, to have that amount of money on hand to be able pay the fine is absurd. They should be made to supply bread to food banks for many years.

They should be toast!

SHORT AND SWEET VISIT

The royal visit was short, memorable and sweet. For many Canadians, it was a momentary treat from the ongoing news about conceit and deceit. King Charles’s presence inspired Canada to be more upbeat, and I, for one, think having a king is rather neat, even if Charles is a member of the wealthy elite.
