MAGICAL CANADA POST MEMORIES

Fifty-three years ago, when I was 10, I remember, with great delight, licking a mint-flavoured eight-cent stamp to send a letter (a letter!) to a pen-pal in Vancouver (the other side of the country!).

Magically, he replied with a letter in response with a different Canadian eight-cent stamp!

It was magical to me then. Today, I have pen-pals around the world who can be serviced for a $3 stamp. So much cheaper than flying there.

I love Canada Post! I think they have always offered to me great value, reliable service, dedication and accountability.

I do not understand the politics, ego and BS that goes on within their union and ranks.

These good folks provide an essential service to our country and should be lauded on so many levels.

Please, lose the politics.

Love you guys, take care.

A BILINGUAL BONUS? WHY?

For those who are unaware, on top of the government salaries and pensions, there is a little perk called the “bilingual bonus.” While $800 annually isn’t a lot of money, add up the amount of people who receive it and it becomes a very large line item in the expense category.

If a job requires you to be bilingual, why on God’s green Earth should you receive a bonus?

PHOTO RADAR NEEDED

I disagree with Premier Doug Ford’s proposed legislation to remove photo radar, especially in school zones. Not only is it expensive to replace the cameras, but there is no evidence that flashing lights will slow speeders down.

For safety, photo radar should remain. Too many speed through school zones. And without a deterrent there is a potential for more accidents.

School zones should be protected zones. Blindly removing cameras does nothing to help with safety for our children.

We cannot afford police officers in multiple locations across the city holding radar guns to catch speeders.
