Does anyone actually think that letting Hydro Ottawa use AI to possibly control your house thermostat or car charger is a good idea?

Computer modelling is more than capable of foreshadowing trends and weather conditions that impact hydro consumption, and, if more power is required, pay the piper and install the infrastructure.

AI itself will become a detriment to society in general. We can see the effects of smartphones on our younger generations, so now we will let computers run everything? What could possibly go wrong?

When I sit down to rant via a letter to the Sun, I know that I could sound much smarter than I am, but I refuse to use it as I want the thoughts and meaning to be from me and not HAL from 2001: A Space Odyssey fame.

DIGGING IN TO OUR POCKETS

Re: Ottawa council passes $5.2-billion 2026 budget including 3.75% property tax hike, online, Dec. 10

First off, the 3.75-per-cent tax increase is simply for your property, so, if you add all the other hikes in “service fees,” it totals well above that. What is it with all three levels of government that they seem to think taxpayers have endless pockets for them to dig into? Both the provincial and municipal governments have adopted the federal Liberal way of doing things: just keep spending, which, in the end, will bankrupt everyone. With an ever-increasing number of families accessing food banks, it’s time to stop this insanity.

Knock off wasting money on legacy projects, knock off sending our tax dollars overseas and keep our money here helping Canadian families.

COAL FOR TWO SCOUNDRELS

Here’s hoping our PM at least has the dignity to remove the mirrors from the Liberal caucus men’s rooms so the two traitors, Michael Ma and Chris d’Entremont, won’t have to face themselves when washing their hands after duping their constituents in their home ridings.

The U.S.A. may have had a Benedict Arnold, but two in Canada?

Dear Saint Nick, a lump of coal for each of these scoundrels!
