Double speak and using nonsensical word salads are becoming trademarks of Prime Minister Mark Carney. He is averse to answering tough questions about anything, so he deflects and changes topics.
When in the West during the election campaign, Carney was all for a new oil pipeline; however, when in Quebec, his opinion was reversed.
During the election, Carney declared U.S. President Donald Trump an existential threat to Canada. However, that changed drastically when he met with Trump, then dropped the majority of tariffs on U.S. goods unbeknownst to voters.
During the King Charles throne speech, which was written by the Carney government and was a regurgitation of Carney’s election platform, there was zero mention of Trump while climate change was claimed the biggest threat. Seems the Trump threat magically disappeared once Carney won.

After reading Carney’s book Value(s), Dr. Jordan Peterson declared him devoid of any original thoughts. Starting at Oxford, Carney has had a tendency to borrow ideas from others.

MR. CENTRE OF ATTENTION
Justin Trudeau, the former prime minister, has once again succeeded in doing the only thing he was ever any good at, and that is drawing, or attempting to draw, attention to himself.
Showing up for the throne speech being delivered by King Charles, he arrived in a dark blue suit with particularly bright green running shoes, or athletic shoes of some description, entirely unsuitable for the occasion. And the media ensured we were all given a look at the shoes.
One would hope this immature, narcissistic former prime minister might eventually grow up, but it’s doubtful. I suspect the nightmare will continue.

MEANT TO INCENTIVIZE HAMAS
Re: Boycott was deliberate, letter to the editor, online, May 28
Criticism of Brian Lilley’s characterization of the current situation in the Gaza Strip with aid is entirely removed from the context and challenges in the region. Israel is fighting a terrorist group that does not care about — neglects and oppresses — its own population, alongside Israelis (58 still held captive).
Strategy, such as withholding humanitarian aid, is meant to have ramifications. It is meant to incentivize Hamas. Perhaps criticism is better suited for the terrorist group that started the war, rather than Canada’s ally, Israel, for trying to finish it.
