Re: Ottawa Pride parade dissolves after Palestinian demonstration blocks route, online, Aug. 24

I participated in the Pride parade Sunday in a group organized by the Jewish Federation of Ottawa.

If the Pride parade can not be maintained as an event focused on gay rights, it should be rescheduled as a private event focused on Palestinians.

To hold the parade again in this format would risk it being hijacked again by an arm’s-length political organization and cancelled again, casting disrepute on gay rights.

HOW DUMB WAS THAT?

I have just three questions. What is it that Queers for Palestine find so appealing about Palestinians? Why were those who were blocking the Pride parade not arrested? Finally, how dumb do you have to be to protest against those who support your right to be yourself in order to side with those who despise everything about you?

The Pride organizers were not doing anything wrong and they should not have had to stop their parade.

UNACCEPTABLE, BUT IT HAPPENED

On Monday, Mayor Sutcliffe said, “I don’t think we want to have a situation where anybody can just block a parade, especially Capital Pride, put a bunch of demands on the table, and the parade doesn’t move forward unless people get into those demands. I don’t think that’s acceptable.”

Yet that situation happened Sunday, but because the anybodies were Queers for Palestine, who wouldn’t get away with wearing that T-shirt in Palestine, Ottawa’s Capital Pride Parade was cancelled, with the winners being the Queers for Palestine.

QUEER STANCE

I would like to know how the group Queers for Palestine would like to be treated. By Palestinian law? Here in Canada, we would never do or condone what would happen to them if that were the case.

Queers for Palestine really are queer.

EMBARRASSING INTERRUPTION

By interrupting the Capital Pride Parade, Queers for Palestine embarrassed and shamed every 2SLGBTQ+ individual in Canada. They also prevented the ones present from celebrating who they are in society. Why weren’t these leaders charged and jailed like the trucker convoy leaders were?

Send them all to the place that they support so we Canadians can live and celebrate our lives in this country like we used to. So tired of their BS!
