NATO’s 32 heads of government members cannot stop fawning over their true leader, Donald J. Trump, a.k.a. “daddy” manipulating all his recalcitrant children to follow his orders.
Who says money and might do not make right? Check out the Canadian legal system.
There are numerous PhD theses in the making on how bluster and BS can bring cowering adults to heel. Works every time. Look at Canadian politics.
But is that five per cent military moola still all “Promises, Promises” like its namesake Broadway musical? Will they hold after Trumpy is out of office in 2028 (yes, he will be)?
While NATO’s smarmy 32 are now focused on military deterrence, existential threats may well come from other directions — infrastructure attack, internal dissent, monetary collapse, and so on …

KING CARNEY
While there will be those who will praise Mark Carney, Canadians need to wake up and pay attention to his actions as well as his words. He has no intention of making Canada an energy “superpower.” He’s a rabid eco-freak and his refusal to back off on banning the sale of new gasoline cars by 2035 is further proof of that.
Carney also wants to be able to bypass or ignore federal laws in order to proceed with “projects of national interest.” Who gets to decide what is of national interest? Him or his cabinet? No thanks. He has crowned himself king, and he and he alone will decide.
The only loyalty Carney should have is to Canadians, but we’re finding that’s not so.

WHO CAN BLAME ALBERTANS?
Going back to the 1980 election campaign when then-Liberal campaign organizer Keith Davey coined the slogan, “Screw the West, we’ll take the rest,” that has become a common Liberal winning strategy. In the recent election because of its usual undying support in Atlantic Canada, Quebec and Ontario, Mark Carney had an insurmountable lead by the time Albertans got to cast a ballot.
With Carney going ahead with an EV mandate by 2035 and showing zero desire for new oil pipelines, Albertans see a continuation of the last decade of radical environmental policies and war on fossil fuels. Ironically it is the revenue from Alberta oil that funds the equalization payments program even richly rewarding Quebec that refuses to let an Alberta oil pipeline pass through that province.
With the appalling treatment by successive Liberal governments, it is very difficult to blame Albertans for wanting out of Canada.
